This presentation showcases some of ADB’s innovative projects in Southeast Asia in the agriculture sector. It also highlights the lessons learned so that other countries may consider adopting similar approaches and designs for their projects.

Ending Hunger in Asia and the Pacific by 2030: An Assessment of Investment Requirements in Agriculture

This presentation gives an overview of the joint publications of ADB and the International Food Policy Research Institute that assess the investment requirements in agriculture in the region. It also provides a snapshot of the researches conducted in Indonesia and the People’s Republic of China.

Keynote Address: Launch of Publications on Food Security Investment Requirements, Climate-Smart Practices, and Horticulture Value Chain Development

This presentation provides an overview of the joint publications launched. These are the outputs from the joint research with ADB's long-standing partners, IRRI and IFPRI for over two years. The joint research was also done in close collaboration with national research organizations and think tanks in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, People’s Republic of China, and Viet Nam.

Shixin Chen

Shixin Chen is the Vice-President (Operations 1) of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He joined ADB on 12 December 2018. Mr. Chen is responsible for operations in the South Asia Department and the Central and West Asia Department. Prior to joining ADB, Mr. Chen headed the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation at the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). From 1998, Mr. Chen held senior positions in the Ministry of Finance, overseeing areas of public finance and partnerships with multilateral development banks.
