Kavinda Gunasekara

Kavinda Gunasekara is working as COO, Global Water & Sanitation Center, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand. Over the past 15 years, he had involved in implementing geospatial-related projects in South, Southeast, and Central Asian countries. He led UNEP CounterMEASURE Phase I & II project components in AIT by integrating digital tools for mapping plastic litter in streets and waterways. He holds a doctorate from the University of Tokyo, and a professional master in digital Transformation from AIT.

Chettiyappan Visvanathan

Dr. Chettiyappan Visvanathan, is an Emeritus  Professor of Asian Institute of Technology.  Currently he is working with  Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of  Mahidol University. He has a Ph.D. (Chemical /Environmental Engineering) from Institute National Polytechnique, Toulouse, France.  His main areas of research interests include: Sustainable Consumption and Production, Membrane  technologies for water and wastewater treatment and solid waste disposal and management. 

Nguyen Thi Thu Trang

Trang is Co-Founder and Deputy Director of the Centre for Supporting Green Development (GreenHub), a Vietnamese NGO. She is trained as an expert in marine waste management, leading projects on plastic pollution, environment, and development for 15 years, promoting partnerships and information networks between government, business, and civil society. Her collective action expertise has been applied as an invited trainer of plastic waste management in Asia Pacific.

Heidi Savelli-Soderberg

Heidi Savelli-Soderberg is acting Chief of the Source to Sea Pollution Unit focusing on plastic pollution and marine litter, wastewater and nutrients within the Marine and Freshwater Branch of the United Nations Environment Programme. She has worked with coastal and marine management including prevention of land-based sources of pollution for 20 years and led the Units work on plastics since 2009. She trained as an ecotoxicologist with an MSc from Lund University, Sweden.
