She cited air pollution as the fifth leading global risk factor for premature deaths, highlighting the health impacts of air pollution, and the need for urgent collective action.​

Years of experience on Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and safeguard processes provided the momentum to strengthen HIA practice within ADB procedures and its developing member countries (DMCs). This presentation outlines how ADB has strengthened HIA over the last 3 years. This was done through developing capacity in member countries, supporting policy and guideline development, and undertaking various HIA demonstration projects.

Property tax is a local government revenue source in the Philippines. The imposition of property tax and tax on property-related transactions is mandated by law in the country. This presentation discusses property tax issues including decline in the ratio of property tax-to-gross domestic product, weak local revenue performance, and outdated property values.

Property taxes cover the recurrent and non-recurrent taxes on the use, ownership, or transfer of property, and are raised at different levels of government. In the Asian context, local governments raise revenues from recurrent taxes on immovable property; whereas taxes on wealth, inheritance, and gifts are raised more heavily at the central or federal government level.
