East Asia Forum 2022: Decarbonizing Asia and the Pacific – Experience from East Asia

Economies in Asia and the Pacific are increasingly committing to the goal of carbon neutrality, in line with the Paris Agreement on climate change and outcomes of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26).

Cohosted by the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), East Asia Forum 2022 explored the next steps for achieving decarbonization in Asia and the Pacific, drawing upon lessons from East Asia.

Social Enterprise Solutions Servicing Rural Communities and Sustainable Tourism Development in Indonesia

Local start-up Sumba Sustainable Solutions are partnering with rural women to reduce their domestic workload using solar-powered corn and rice mills in remote villages in Sumba, Indonesia. The mills are coupled with household Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) solar light and phone charger systems in a sustainable social business model currently servicing 2500 customers.

ADB study on Green Hydrogen Economy launched at Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024

Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupendra Bhai Patel along with ADB Senior Director, Energy, Mr. Priyantha Wijayatunga launched the Study ‘Key Pillars to Drive Gujarat’s Green Hydrogen Economy Leadership’ at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit on 12th January 2024. The study identified strategic interventions to help the state of Gujarat achieve its Green Hydrogen Economy Vision. Mr. Priyantha presented the study followed by a panel discussion with thought leaders, moderated by ADB Senior Energy Specialist, Mr. Stephen Peters, which over 1500 people attended.
