Roberta Casali

Roberta Casali is the Vice President, Finance and Risk Management at the Asian Development Bank. She has more than 30 years of executive experience in central banking and the financial sector. She held senior positions in the area of payment systems at the Bank of Italy, in both national and international roles. She also had significant private sector banking experience, including more than 10 years at leading Italian international banking group Intesa Sanpaolo SpA.

Jeffrey Smith

Based in Bangkok, Jeff has led sustainable tourism with the Six Senses group since 2016. He holds a Master’s degree in Sustainability and has a background in Environmental Engineering with consulting experience in the USA and his native Canada. His experience includes ecosystem risk management, municipal planning advisory, and elephant conservation. Jeff draws on a decade of experience launching community-based tourism programs; facilitating connections between travelers, indigenous peoples, and the natural world.

SME BlueImpact Asia: Financing Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises that Dominate the Blue Economy

This session presented SME BlueImpact Asia, a blended finance platform for SME Blue Economy projects, which was jointly developed by ADB with UNEP and UNDP. The session discussed the concept of this initiative and will draw lessons from the European experience with BlueInvest Europe. To ensure the success of the platform, it also gathered insights from various stakeholders on policy recommendations and implementation approaches both from the perspective of SMEs and investors.
