Silvia Cardascia

Silvia is a water resources specialist at ADB, where she supports the design of projects in the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia. She also works on knowledge management and is one of the authors of the Asian Water Development Outlook 2020. Prior to joining ADB in 2018, she was a research assistant at the University of Oxford, a United Nations Fellow and a Programme Officer for the Italian Agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Addis Ababa.

Kate Landry

As Senior Manager for Community Action, Kate Landry leads WWF-Canada's national bilingual community action programs to help reverse wildlife loss, increase biodiversity, and restore habitat across Canada. She was Country Director of BuildChange prior to joining WWF-Canada. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in International Development from the University of Guelph.

Evolution of Law and Judicial Remedies in Environmental and Climate Change Matters: Pakistan View Point

In Pakistan, the court focused the goals of the National Climate Change Policy 2010 to ensure that climate change is mainstreamed in the economically and socially vulnerable sectors of the economy; and to steer the country towards climate resilient development. The court established the Climate Change Commission to guarantee implementation of the policy.

Measuring and Monitoring the Impacts of Eco-Compensation and Payment for Ecosystem Service (PES) Programmes

The presentation of UNEP-WCMC PRC representative, Meng Han, covered three broad areas about measuring and monitoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, and related these to the different aspects of eco-compensation and payment for ecosystem services (PES). The first part focused on ecosystem service mapping, highlighting how this can help inform eco-compensation/PES planning by looking at where the restoration or protection of natural habitats can have the greatest net benefit.

Mark Bezuijen

Mark has worked on biodiversity conservation, protected area management, and environmental impact assessment in Asia and Australia for over 20 years. Key areas of work currently include the piloting and design of sustainable tourism projects in Mongolia, and overseeing environmental safeguards for a range of natural resource projects in the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia. He is the departmental focal point for the Regional Flyway Initiative.
