Mian Shaukat Shafi is the Head of the urban, water, and disaster risk management Unit in the Pakistan Resident Mission of the Asian Development Bank.
An urban and environmental specialist by training, he has worked with ADB for 22 years and led projects in various sectors including water, urban, housing, transport and DRR. He has diverse experience in project management, planning, and implementation. He has worked with different multilateral and bilateral agencies in the past. He brings a mix of operational experiences from the private and public sectors. He has remained the head of the extended mission for 5 years after the 2005 earthquake delivering a reconstruction program worth $1 billion. Together with other partners, he has led the preparation of post-disaster needs assessments and recovery programs after major disasters, multiple times. Since 2010 he has led the delivery of portfolio worth more than $6 billion in Pakistan's urban, water and DRM.
