Profile / Bio: 

Sheharyar has over 16 years of experience in development work globally and brings with strong of experience in the field of project development in energy and infrastructure.

Since joining ADB in 2018 he leads on transaction advisory mandates across energy, water, wastewater, urban and social infrastructure sectors across South and Central Asia. He led the successful delivery of the award winning 457MW Sherabad solar PPP project in Uzbekistan which is the largest solar project in Central Asia. His ongoing mandates include work in Pakistan (hydro power in KP), Maldives (solar IPP), Sri Lanka (non-revenue water), Armenia (wind IPP) and Tajikistan (power sector governance).

Prior to joining ADB in 2018, he worked with the Korea Development Bank in Singapore on development, structuring and financing of project finance transactions across Asia Pacific. He led successful project financings in Australia (Westconnex motorway M5 and M6), Indonesia (Asahan Hydro, PAU Ammonia, Tangguh LNG), Malaysia (Pertama Ferroalloys), Singapore (Universal Terminals) and Japan (Hiroshima Solar IPP) among others. Prior to 2014 he worked with Standard Chartered Bank in Pakistan and Singapore covering structured finance transactions across Asia. He started his career in 2006 as a telecom infrastructure planner with Telenor.

Sheharyar holds a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and an MBA.
