Mr. Alimov is a national of Uzbekistan. He holds a Doctorate and Master's degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut, United States, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Bemidji State University, United States. Bobur has over 28 years of professional experience, including more than 22 years in ADB.
He joined ADB in August 2002 as a Young Economist in the former Agriculture and Environment Division of Southeast Asia Department and worked in two resident missions—as an environment economist in Indonesia Resident Mission, and as a Project Administration Unit (PAU) Head in the Kyrgyz Resident Mission. He later worked in the front offices of two regional departments: Central and West Asia and Southeast Asia, with responsibilities for: (i) portfolio management, (ii) programming, and (iii) results management.
Bobur joined Strategy, Policy and Partnerships Department in September 2018 to lead the Special Initiatives Unit with responsibility for (i) leading selected organizational and operational efficiency initiatives (e.g., Review of Resident Mission Operations and, most recently the core team for Organizational Review); (ii) supporting data governance initiatives; and (iii) coordinating bank-wide efforts to improve quality of sovereign projects and programs.
Since January 2023, Bobur is leading the Transformation Office in the Office of the President. As Head of the Transformation Office, he supports ADB’s managing director general in providing oversight of the overall progress of the organizational transformation, mainly in coordinating and supporting the detailed design, set-up and execution of the new operating model.
