Dr. Jessica Slater is a researcher in the Pollution Management Research Group at IIASA. Her research focuses on different ways of mitigating air pollution and the multiple co-benefits which could result from such policies including climate change and sustainable development goals. Her research interests include quantifying the health impacts of various scenarios and pathways, including developing and improving methodologies in the GAINS model where there is limited available data, for example in cities in low- or middle-income countries where air pollution can be a major health burden. She has experience working in the science-policy interface including in the development of national policy documents related to air pollution and climate change mitigation, including in Europe, South and Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Through her work at IIASA, she hopes to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to develop and utilize such mitigation assessments as well as to increase the evidence base for action on air pollution.
