Elena has been working in WHO for over 14 years now and, in her current position at the Climate Change and Health Unit, she is the lead for capacity building and country support. She is also the lead of the WHO-led Alliance for Transformative Action on Climate and Health (ATACH), aiming to support over 60 countries in implementing their commitments to build climate-resilient and low-carbon sustainable health systems.
Before joining WHO Elena spent over 10 years working in the field as country representative and managing NGO health and development projects in Asia, Central, and South America.
Elena holds an MPH (environmental health stream) from the LSHTM. She also holds Master's degrees in Law, International Development and Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Equity and Gender.
