Marcus, a German national, joined GCF as a Senior Urban Sector Specialist. He has more than 15+ years of experience in urban development, gained in local, national and international organizations. He is joining us from the African Development Bank (AfDB), where he was working in the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department as the coordinator of the Bank’s Urban and Municipal Development Fund. Prior experiences include working at UN-Habitat in the cities and climate change team; working at the German Development Agency -GIZ- as an advisor for sustainable urban development in Guatemala and Malawi. He started his career as a Junior Program Manager at United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG).
Education: Marcus holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Technical University of Berlin. He speaks German, English, Spanish and a little French.
