Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) 11 Years of Co-Management in Preparing Sustainable Infrastructure Projects with Cities
The provision of adequate and reliable infrastructure plays a pivotal role in developing Asia’s economic growth and reducing poverty. Although significant progress has been made in recent years, huge challenges in addressing Asia’s infrastructure needs remain. In many cases, local governments
are lacking the capacity to translate their visions and plans into actual infrastructure projects. For 11 years, the Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) has been working closely with cities across Asia and the Pacific to help in addressing these gaps through a co-management approach
between the Asian Development Bank and the German government through GIZ. At the Knowledge Sharing Event, the CDIA Team will talk about their initiatives in building the capacity of cities and partners; and ensuring that the infrastructure projects they prepare contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and key development impacts.
