The present procedure for environmental impact assessment sets out the general approach to the organization and the evaluation of the possible impact on the environment (hereinafter - EIA), taking into account the legislative and regulatory framework of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as international experience, including the Convention on environmental impact assessment in Transboundary context.
The state considers the basic stages of the EIA of proposed economic and / or other activities and the integration of environmental considerations in the preparation and decision-making. If the environmental assessment  are subject to the concept of long-term (general) plans and programs of socio-economic development of the country, the EIA is carried out as strategic environmental assessment.

EIA of the proposed activity should be accompanied by not only predicting the environmental impact to the mentioned activities, and assessing the implications, both in its implementation and in the preservation of or after completion of the said activity (post-project analysis).
