This Act regulates matters relating to the granting of equal rights and opportunities to persons

of both sexes in social, political, economic, cultural and other areas of human life; its purpose

is to protect men and women from discrimination based on sex; it is intended to promote

progressive democratic relations between men and women on the basis of national traditions;

it affords state guarantees to ensure that they have equal rights
