Profile / Bio: 

Anna Biernat is Communication Officer with the WHO’s Regional Office for the Western Pacific, based in Manila, Philippines. In this role, Anna supports strategic communication activities and plans to achieve better health outcomes and impact within the Region. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Anna has also been actively involved in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the regional COVID-19 communications strategy, including leading the Strategic Communications Pillar as part of the regional COVID-19 Incident Management Support Team (IMST).

Prior to joining WHO’s Regional Office for the Western Pacific, Anna worked as Communication Officer with WHO’s Pakistan Country Office, based in Islamabad, where she oversaw polio communications. Before joining WHO, Anna worked for UNICEF Ukraine, supporting immunization communications. Before that, Anna was a media coordinator with the OECD in Paris, and a communication consultant with a global PR company, Weber Shandwick, based in Brussels. Anna holds a double master’s degree in communication, as well as in oriental studies, focusing on the language and culture of the Indian subcontinent. A Polish national, she’s fluent in Polish, English, and French, and has a good knowledge of Hindi, Urdu, Italian, and German.
