SDCC OIC Sungsup Ra and Energy Sector Group Chief, Priyantha Wijayatunga will present the guidance note on large hydropower plants at the Across-the-Board Session on 26 January.
It is the objective of the guidance note to guide project teams in the planning, design, and development of large hydropower plants – both in terms of modernizing existing or constructing new plants, according to the provisions stipulated in several of ADB’s institutional documents, such as the 2021 Energy Policy, Safeguard Policy Statement 2009, Water Sector Directional Guide, and the Paris Agreement Alignment Guidance Note. It also seeks to align large hydropower projects with the Common Principles of Climate Mitigation Finance Tracking.
