Denis Subbotnitskiy is a Programme Management Officer at the Division for Asia and the Pacific Section of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Department of Technical Cooperation.
In this capacity, he manages the portfolio of national and regional projects in Asia and the Pacific region in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, energy, water resources, and industrial applications. Mr. Subbotnitskiy is managing the regional project on the IAEA flagship initiative on plastic recycling (NUTEC).
Previous experience of Mr. Subbotnitskiy includes project management and economic research in the areas of energy and sustainable development and in the United Nations system (IAEA, UNIDO, and FAO), Global Strategy Group of KPMG, and the NGO sector. His competencies include monitoring and evaluation of international development projects, extensive report drafting experience in energy, environment, and development spheres at international level, development of databases and economic models, and organization and management of international coordinated research projects, including the IAEA collaborative project on the economics of advanced energy technologies.
Mr. Subbotnitskiy holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics from St.Petersburg University (Russia) and a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics (UK) and the University of Missouri-Columbia (USA). His areas of academic interest include economic development, finance, macroeconomics, and economic history with a focus on long-term economic growth and industrial development.
