Cornelis is a hydrologist specialising in hydrology, flood risk management and flood forecasting. His career started in the Netherlands working with Royal HaskoningDHV. After 4 years of working in the Netherlands his ingenuity and professionalism in his field received the attention of colleagues internationally. He was offered a position within Royal HaskoningDHV Australia and moved in 2019.
His focus was to work on the Flash Flood Forecasting digital service, Flood Hazard modelling and hydrologic and hydraulic modelling. He is involved in the development of decision support systems and several flood studies in Australia and other flood hotspots all over the world. He brings flood model results to life using user friendly graphics and dashboards providing decisionmakers with valuable information. He works closely together with clients and stakeholders to engage in the process of hydraulic modelling and flood forecasting, allowing stakeholders to engage in the process and be able to understand the complex modelling process and the outcomes.
Over the years Cornelis has provided training in QGIS and the hydraulic software package 3DI in Myanmar, South Africa, Viet Nam and Australia. Currently he takes the lead in Australia with regards to the digital transformation.
