Chairperson, Wetlands International Malaysia Profile / Bio Profile / Bio Keizrul is the Chairperson of the Malaysia Office of Wetlands International and a member of the Global Management Board of Wetlands International. He is also a Senior Advisor of NARBO (Network of Asian River Basin Organisations). Keizrul has been involved in the field of water and environment for the past 4 decades. He started his career in the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia where over an illustrious career, he rose to become the Director General in 1997 until his retirement from public service eleven years later. As Director General, he introduced a more environment-friendly approach to solving water and environment issues and advocated the need to manage water and environment problems in a holistic and integrated manner. He is currently the Regional Coordinator of Wetlands International’s “Accelerating Adaptation Through Building with Nature Asia” program which covers 5 Asian countries (China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines). The program aims at using nature-based solutions for Climate Adaptation.
