I was elected as President of the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) on June 3 by the Board of Directors of Korea's National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences under the Prime Minister's Office. My term in office is three years to June 2, 2019, and I was inaugurated on June 7, 2019.
I received Ph.D. in agricultural economics (specialized in environmental economics) at Oklahoma State University. My research areas are policy analysis of sustainable agriculture and climate change. As a Research Director of the Korea Rural Economic Institute, I am a principal investigator for the research projects on developing impact models of climate change in the agricultural sector and establishing a sustainable agricultural system in Korea. I have served as Chair of the Joint Working Party on Agriculture and the Environment in OECD since 2014. I am now actively involving several committee members such as the Chair of Midterm Fiscal Policy in the Agricultural Sector under the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and a Member of the Policy Evaluation Committee in the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
