Profile / Bio: 

Santosh is the Managing Director at Intellecap Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd. He leads the energy, climate change, and agriculture practice at Intellecap. He has significant experience in designing and implementing carbon projects and developing climate finance strategies. He led strategic engagements with the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India (GoI), the World Bank, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, GoI, on shaping the carbon market in India, which included assessing the potential demand for carbon credits across hard-to-abate sectors, developing an institutional mechanism for governing India’s carbon market, and defining technical infrastructure for carbon markets aligned to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

He is supporting Aavishkaar Capital in setting up one of the first ‘Carbon Funds’. He also established "Intellecap’s smallholder carbon finance platform for India" to implement and support nature-based climate finance-linked projects. At Intellecap, he is also leading studies on the assessment of carbon sequestration potential for ecosystem services with the World Bank, identification of the role of digital and non-digital technologies to facilitate a net-zero transition in agriculture with IDH and assisting the BMGF in designing an internal strategy for facilitating climate adaptation in South Asia.

Prior to joining Intellecap, Santosh was also a core member of the World Bank team that was implementing the Partnership of Market Readiness (PMR) program, providing support to prepare and implement carbon pricing instruments in India. Santosh has been instrumental in mobilizing more than USD 30 million in climate finance from different global organizations. He also worked with Olam International, the Center for Development Finance, GIZ, and Tata Trusts, supporting, promoting, and financing enterprises with innovative clean energy solutions.
