Profile / Bio: 

Gitta works as a national researcher at the International Water Management Institute in Nepal. She is academically trained in human geography from India, Nepal, and Europe. She has worked extensively as a researcher and gender specialist for the past 15 years in Nepal and India.

In the past, she has researched Migration, Women in peace and conflict, Water Governance, Gender in organizations, Masculinities, Gender in Solar irrigation technologies, Climate Change and Water Induced Disasters, WASH and Rural Agrarian Development. Her research interest revolves around intersectionality, human-environment relations, gender, and social justice.

She has developed gender training manuals, served as a trainer on gender and social inclusion for community mobilizers and local stakeholders, and mainstreamed gender in community implementation models, research projects & organizations. She has also served as a lecturer at various reputed universities in Nepal and team leader for project evaluation teams at the Social Welfare Council (Nepal) and contributed as an author and reviewer to international journals and books on gender and social inclusion across Nepal.
