Tanvir Hossain is currently the Sr. Procurement Specialist is the Procurement Team Leader of the World Bank for the Western Balkans countries, Romania and Turkey. He has over 26 years of successful experience in various challenging procurement environments, both in development organizations and the private sector.
He led the World Bank’s engagement in the modernization of public procurement and coordinated the e-Government Procurement initiatives in South Asia and, Europe & Central Asia regions. With an interest in business and engineering, he brings on board intellectual leadership and experience in implementing digital solutions with a whole-of-government approach to enhance efficiency in procurement practices and contract management, foster innovation, digitize the capacity-building approach, and strengthen governance. Tanvir led the procurement reform work in country procurement assessment, capacity development, data analytics, e-procurement, and open contracting in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Georgia, and Armenia.
He holds a Master’s in Business Administration (Finance) and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering.
