Ms. Sabyrova, a national of Kazakhstan, holds a Doctorate and Master’s degree in Economics from Indiana University, United States. She also holds a Diploma in Political Economy from Kazakh State University, Kazakhstan.
Ms. Sabyrova has 27 years of professional experience, including 18 years in ADB. She joined ADB in September 2000 as Economist in the former AEWU and held increasingly responsible positions in Operations. From 2006 to 2008, she was posted as a Senior Economist at Kyrgyz Republic’s Resident Mission. She went on Special Leave without Pay in October 2008 where she co-founded and served as Deputy Director at a private independent economic think tank in Kazakhstan and returned to ADB in October 2011. She was promoted to Principal Regional Economist in June 2015 where she led country partnership strategies, economic and knowledge work, and the institutional strengthening of the CAREC Institute. Prior to joining ADB, she taught at Indiana University and Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research.
Lyaziza has in-depth experience and expertise in regional cooperation and economic and strategic work. She has strong leadership skills that will enable her to lead the planning, implementation, and supervision of CWRC’s vision, goals, strategies, and work plan to support ADB's overall goals.
