Helen Clark: Breaking through glass ceilings is important, and women’s leadership matters
Former New Zealand Prime Minister and UNDP Administrator Rt. Hon. Helen Clark addressed a crowd of 600 as Gender Month’s Distinguished Speaker on 16 March 2018 in ADB Headquarters. After welcome remarks by VP Bambang Susantono, Rt. Hon. Clark highlighted policies and laws that can help break glass ceilings and support all women to enjoy greater work-family balance. She commended ADB for its track record and continued commitment to supporting gender equality and women’s empowerment in Asia and the Pacific region. President Takehiko Nakao and Rt. Hon. Clark also took part in a panel moderated by Director General Amy Leung, answering questions from the audience on the future of women’s leadership and the potential for ADB to accelerate progress on gender equality. She also addressed Board members on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
