Profile / Bio: 

Lykke Leonardsen has more than 25 years of experience in various fields of urban development – from regeneration, economic development, and physical planning. During her 13 years in the Technical and Environmental Administration in the City of Copenhagen, she has been heading the development of the city's adaptation programs, including the adaptation plan, the citywide cloudburst management plan, and the storm surge management plan. She has also worked with developing and implementing the Climate Action Plan of the city – aiming to become carbon neutral by 2025. Currently, she is running the program for Sustainable and Resilient City Solutions in Copenhagen working as an ambassador for Copenhagen’s climate solutions. The program aims at sharing Copenhagen’s results in the process of becoming carbon neutral and also how to work with the implementation of ambitious climate adaptation solutions. The program involves international collaboration with cities such as New York, Washington DC, Boston, Houston, Beijing, and Buenos Aires. Since 2020 Lykke Leonardsen is part-time to seconded to C40 as a senior manager for the Water Safe Cities program, providing technical assistance to cities regarding climate change-related water challenges.
