Profile / Bio: 
Ms. Pilar Avello is a Programme Manager and one of SIWI’s experts on democratic governance and accountability in the water sector. She has more than nine years of experience working in with government agencies and civil society organizations in Latin America, Africa and Europe to strengthen and promote integrity in public administration by putting in practice transparency, accountability, participation and anti-corruption’s policies, regulations and mechanisms. Currently, Pilar is leading Water integrity and Accountability projects in different parts of the world. Prior to that, she spent two years with UNDP El Salvador coordinating the integrity folder and four years in Cote d’Ivoire as field advisor for the Electoral Assistance Division to the UN peacekeeping mission.
 
Pilar holds a Candidate Executive Master of Public Administration from the Hertie School of Governance, a Postgraduate Diploma in Conflict Prevention, a Master Degree in Foreign Trade and a Master of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising. She speaks Spanish, English and French.
