Switzerland runs bilateral programs for international collaboration in higher education. Selected Swiss universities implement and manage these programs and collaborate with higher education and research institutions from different parts of the world. They have been collaborating with the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Japan since 2003 and 2008, respectively. They also  have ongoing programs in South and Southeast Asia.
