Profile / Bio: 

Rafid's career aspiration is to work on the intersection of the marine ecosystem and protect the community's livelihoods.

He is currently working as a Project Leader in a local NGO, Thresher Shark Indonesia. Their goal is to protect the declining and endangered thresher shark population in one of the shark-dependent communities in Alor Island, Indonesia. 

He combines skills in marine ecology and conservation, community engagement, policy. He particularly uses innovative approaches, such as using satellite and acoustic tagging for sharks to understand movement within Marine Protected Area, while simultaneously educating and helping communities transition to sustainable and alternative livelihoods. He is also passionate about youth leadership and training, to inspire and enable youth communities to make changes in their homes through networking and providing resources with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
