Gopalakrishna Bhat is a hydrogeologist. He started his career as a geologist in Ladakh Projects of Geological Survey of India. For over three decades, he has worked on diverse issues including risk assessment, urban climate change resilience, and traditional water technologies such as Qanats & Surangams. His interests include increasing resource autonomy through community-managed water-energy-biomass systems in transforming environments. He was a consultant for developing Gujarat hazard risk and Vulnerability Atlas. He was the Chairman of TARU Leading Edge Pvt Ltd, which focused on bridging the science-institutions-society interface to reduce mainstream resilience-building across scales, sectors, and stakeholders.
