ACliFF Introduction video
Cities in Asia and the Pacific need to plan for a warmer world. This will require scaling up investments in climate and disaster resilience that benefits all population. Finance, especially climate adaptation finance could potentially play a critical role in helping cities and communities unlock their potential to grow despite climate challenges. However, this would require climate finance to have an explicit focus on supporting the poor and most vulnerable; aligning with existing systems and approaches that have been successful in delivering finance at scale to improve the lives and livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable population, and adopting innovative financial instruments. This session aims to discuss how climate adaptation finance can be delivered at scale to help the needs of the poor and vulnerable population in urban areas. The session will discuss challenges, lessons learned, recommendations, and future opportunities in providing climate adaptation finance to cities, particularly in addressing the impacts of climate events on the urban poor.
