Maliki is Director of Poverty Alleviation and Community Development, Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), whose team is responsible for designing policy and planning for the development of social protection programs.
He has been working in BAPPENAS for the past 20 years and was appointed Director in 2014. Currently, he is leading the formulation of Long Term Care System, Action Plan for People with Disability, Social Protection Reform, Action Plan for Adaptive Social Protection, and development of Social-Economic Registry. In addition, Maliki is closely working with the East-West Center on population and social policy issues, especially on the economics of aging. With a background in engineering, he earned a doctoral degree in Economics of Population from the University of Hawaii (Manoa).
