Alex Chen is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Asia Risk Transfer Solutions (ARTS), a Singapore-based technology company founded with the mission of establishing insurance for the masses in Asia. From product design to portfolio management and more, ARTS helps insurers build new digital business strategies in the areas of Natural Catastrophe and Agriculture Insurance, geared at increasing risk protection levels of entire communities.
Under Alex’s vision and leadership, ARTS has achieved significant growth since its inception. ARTS’ flagship agriculture risk analytics platform, the Crop Risk Expert Suite (CRES), was recently awarded the 7th Asia Insurance Technology Awards (2017) by Asia Insurance Review and Celent, one of the highest accolades for technology excellence and innovation in the Asia insurance industry. CRES is now in use by general insurance companies in India to provide agriculture insurance to millions of farmers across the country. ARTS is also working with government agencies and insurance companies across the region to develop new insurance products and technologies for the masses.
Alex received his B.EngSc. and M.Sc. degrees from Nanyang Technological University Singapore. He is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Lee Kuan Yew Gold Medal, Royal Dutch Shell “Ideas360” Innovation Award, and the Institution of Engineers Singapore Gold Medal. He has been featured by major industry publications on the topic of technology and insurance for the masses and participated at major international conferences as a keynote speaker, advisor, and expert panelist.
