Jamela is a correspondent with Al Jazeera English and has fearlessly reported on conflicts in many parts of the Philippines despite being on the receiving end of death threats. A recipient of the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Filipinos Award and President of the Foreign Press Club of the Philippines, she is also the co-founder of Sinagtala, an aid organisation that supports women and children in conflict zones.
