Remittances play an important role in many economies. They are the main source of foreign exchange in many developing countries. They have also become an important and fairly stable source of income for many families. To maximize the benefits of remittances, countries should be able to update and improve their policies to support migrants and diaspora, reduce remitting costs, and promote investments of remittances.
