MASANORI TANAKA

Chairman of Japan International Consultants for Transportation Co.,Ltd.

Mr. Tanaka has been involved in management of international consultant company as the  first president and then chairman of JIC (Japan International Consultants for Transportation Co.,Ltd.)

As a specialist on railway planning, he took charge of plans on stations, station plazas, and development around stations,  in the“ Preparatory survey on Bangkok-Chiang Mai High speed rail project” by JICA.  He was the chief of the study team in “case study on railway construction integrated with land development and asset utilization of railway station” by MLIT.

Before establishment of  JIC, he had been president of JR East Consultants Co.,Ltd.

Prior to this, he worked for East Japan Railway (EJR), and Japanese National Railways, for 34 years.  His position in EJR was executive director, in charge of construction department and  research & development department. Also, he was in charge of new railway service route planning, management of construction projects, and  railway facilities management. Especially, he  designed improvement project of major stations in metropolitan area, such as Tokyo station and Shinjuku station. And also made plans for Keiyo-line, Saikyou –line and syounan-shinjuku line which are now trunk network lines in metropolitan Tokyo area.

Mr. Tanaka is a Bachelor of civil engineering from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1973. At the international conference by Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies on 4th July 2014, he gave a presentation on “the project on the development around Shinkansen Stations” as a keynote lecturer.
