Since its independence, Mongolia has made considerable progress in reducing poverty. From 38.8% in 2010, poverty incidence in the country declined to 21.6% in 2014. However, meeting the social protection agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals would require Mongolia to pursue crucial measures. These include spending an extra 6% of it gross domestic product to finance social protection while implementing pension and insurance reforms.
