A management information system (MIS) is more than just a database. It also captures, transmits, manages and analyzes data. In social development programs, MIS can help in selecting, registering and enrolling recipients, monitoring their compliance with conditions, producing and reconciling payment lists, and more. It faciliates program implementation from targeting recipients up to monitoring and evaluation. An optimal MIS for social development programs entails a single registry, a single window, and a unified targetting database. This presentation discusses this ideal set-up and shows how it has been implemented in different countries.
