Kelly Hattel is a Senior Financial Sector Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where she promotes innovative approaches to strengthen financial access that are responsible, efficient, scalable, inclusive and sustainable. She currently manages the Philippines Inclusive Finance Development Program, a 6 year-long lending and technical assistance program which supports increased financial inclusion across the country, especially through digital platforms. She is also leading the development of an innovative green finance facility for Southeast Asia, from the Thailand Resident Mission, where she is based. Prior to ADB, Ms. Hattel consulted for a range of public and private sector agencies, microfinance institutions and associations where she provided technical expertise on expanding and deepening the reach of financial institutions throughout Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. She began her career as a small enterprise development volunteer in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa. Ms. Hattel holds a bachelor's degree in international studies and law from the American University and a master's degree in international relations from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. In 2021 and 2022 respectively, she completed the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School Executive Education Fintech and Regulatory Innovation Course and Sustainable Finance Continuing Professional Development Course on Sustainable Finance.
