Profile / Bio: 

Ko Sakamoto serves the countries of Asia and the Pacific in his role as Principal Transport Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). His current focus is on Central and West Asia, involved in investment and technical assistance projects in Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Prior to joining ADB 10 years ago, he worked at the UK Transport Research Laboratory (TRL), focusing on international climate change and sustainable transport policy. He regularly advised governments in both developed and developing countries, as well as major international institutions on issues relating to low-carbon development.

He holds a MA in Transport Economics (with distinction) from the University of Leeds, and a BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Politics and Economics from the International Christian University. He is originally from Tokyo, Japan.
