Mr. Ellermann has more than 13 years of professional work experience with focus on climate finance. He is ADB’s focal person for the Green Climate Fund and the Climate Investment Funds, and for managing the associated internal trust funds and teams. As part of the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management Division, he leads on the topic of aligning ADB with the Paris Agreement.
Previously, he was an employed consultant with Ecofys, where he advised governments and international organizations on climate policy options and mechanisms. From 2011 to 2013, he built up and managed Ecofys' China operations based in Beijing. Mr. Ellermann is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Mr. Ellermann is a national of Germany. He holds a Doctoral degree in Political Economy of Climate Change in China from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom, and Master's degree in Modern China Studies and Economics from the University of Cologne, Germany
