Senior Gender Specialist, ADB Profile / Bio Profile / Bio James Lang is the Senior Specialist on Gender-based Violence for the Gender Equality Division at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) where he provides leadership for preventing gender-based violence across ADB operations and knowledge work. James has over 25 years of experience promoting gender equality and preventing gender-based violence through policy and programming with international organizations and the UN System, primarily in Asia and the Pacific. Before joining the ADB, James served as the UNDP Regional Gender Advisor for Asia and the Pacific, on the leadership board of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative, as a Senior Visiting Scholar for the UN University. James designed and led Partners for Prevention, a joint UN program focused on research, learning and advocacy for GBV prevention in Asia and the Pacific. James has also worked for Futures without Violence and Oxfam GB.
