This online event highlighted the importance of climate adaptation finance reaching the local level, especially the poor and vulnerable communities who are the hardest hit by the impacts of climate change. The session discussed lessons from the ADB Resilient Communities Development project in Myanmar and Urban Climate Change Resilience Trust Fund’s (UCCRTF) experiences.

Stefania Dina of ADB shared her experience in the Resilient Community Development project in Myanmar which provides financial resources for resilience community infrastructure and livelihoods based on priorities identified by the local communities. She highlighted that along with financing for investments, it is equally important to strengthen the capacity of local communities and governments on how to use climate and disaster risk information for local decision-making purposes, in this case, Myanmar’s village development plan process

Joy Amor Bailey of UCCRTF discussed the importance of resilience solutions at all levels – national, landscape, city, and community and shared insights and reflections from UCCRTF supported projects in Indonesia and Viet Nam on assessing, measuring, and reporting successful resilience outcomes. This event was moderated by Arghya Sinha Roy of ADB.
