Vina is the Regional Director (Asia) of BirdLife International and has been in post since January 2017. BirdLife International is a Partnership of about 120 local organizations globally and supports conservation in 15 countries in Asia. Prior to joining BirdLife, Vina worked for the business school INSEAD for almost 6 years as its Legal Counsel in Asia. He has a Bachelors (LL.B. Hons) degree in law from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, a BA. Hons degree (History) from the National University of Singapore and a Masters (LLM) in International Business Law from the Sorbonne-Assas (Paris II) International Law School. In his role at BirdLife, Vina oversees BirdLife’s efforts in Asia to conserve the East Asian Australasian and Central Asian Flyways and to address threats to birds including the conversion of wetlands, illegal hunting and the impact of poorly sited energy infrastructure. He is responsible for BirdLife’s engagement with governments and development agencies in Asia and with the East Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership. He also supports BirdLife globally on matters of governance.
