Profile / Bio: 

Lewis Hawke has headed the PEFA Secretariat since November 2014, leading the upgrade of the PEFA framework. PEFA is a global, multi-donor initiative for assessing PFM performance and national and sub-national levels which has been used in more than 150 countries. 

Prior to his current position, he was a lead public sector specialist for the World Bank in Europe and Central Asia region. He has worked on public sector management and international development for more than 3 decades and in more than 30 countries. This includes around 20 years as a senior official in the Australian Government Department of Finance and UK Treasury with responsibility for the development and implementation of leading-edge public administration reforms. 

Lewis has contributed to books and published journal articles on various public sector management issues. He has academic qualifications in economics, accounting, and business management. He is a member of CPA Australia and a Lifetime Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration of Australia.
