Edward Archibald is an independent consultant with experience in shock responsive social protection across Asia, Africa and the Middle East. He is currently a Social Protection Expert with the Social Protection Approaches to COVID-19: Expert advice helpline (SPACE), which is supported by the UK and German governments. His other recent clients include the World Bank, UNICEF and Save the Children. Edward was Chief of Social Policy at UNICEF Malawi from 2015-2018, and was previously Head of the Australian Government aid program in Sri Lanka (2011-2014), and Director of Economics at AusAID/Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) headquarters (2009-2010). He designed landmark social protection reforms for remote Indigenous communities in Australia as Policy Leader at the Cape York Institute from 2006-2008. He holds an MPhil in Development Studies from Oxford University, and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.
