Innovation Speakers' Series: Fighting Corruption at a Time of Crisis

30 June 2020

ADB's Office of Anticorruption and Integrity and Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department gathered 400 representatives from the US Embassy, USAID, Basel Institute on Governance, Philippine Commission on Audit, and ADB in a webinar on risk mitigation in emergency assistance.

Gretta Fenner, managing director of Basel Institute on Governance, shared lessons on anticorruption and integrity in past crises such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. She highlighted the important roles multilateral development banks, government agencies, anticorruption actors, and civil society play to uphold integrity amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. ADB Philippine Country Director Kelly Bird zoomed in on insights gained from ADB's emergency assistance to the Philippines. Fenner and Bird both discussed innovative approaches to mitigate risks in emergency settings.
