Profile / Bio: 

László Pintér is Professor and Head of Department at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at the Central European University (CEU) and Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).

László has been working on sustainable development for nearly three decades, grounded in the recognition that a systemic sustainability transition and transformation is urgently needed. He has been with IISD since 1994, serving as Director of the Measurement and Assessment Program between 2003 and 2010. During his years at IISD he carried out pioneering work on sustainability indicators, sustainable development strategies, and integrated assessments in the global, federal, provincial, and community contexts, often with an emphasis on the natural resources sectors. He has been a regular contributor to the Global Environment Outlook (GEO), the flagship report of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and for over a decade led the design and worldwide delivery of GEO’s capacity building initiative. He contributed to the work of several Task Forces of the China Council, worked with a wide range of international organizations such as the OECD, the World Bank, UNDP, UN CSD, and many leading think tanks, networks, development assistance organizations, and major consulting companies.
