Ms. Lim is the founder of School of Concepts in Singapore. She started tutoring from the young age of 16, fresh out of Raffles Girls' School. Few knew that she had learning needs. A Sunday school teacher at her church noticed her learning disability and helped her learn phonics. She had to devise her own learning strategies and through perseverance, she managed to score well for her Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE). Those strategies complemented by her teaching experience, Lim created the 'scaffolding' technique used widely in her curriculum. This technique enables her learners to develop self-motivated and self-directed learning attitudes while laying a firm foundation in literacy.
